JAKARTA (JP): Indonesia has sent a delegation of government officials and executives of tourism-related industries to the ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF), which opened in Brunei Darussalam on Wednesday.

Minister of Culture and Tourism I Gede Ardika said that Indonesia would promote its standard of tourism services during the six-day meeting.

""We will present materials that have been compiled by the industry and the government to be recognized as a standard in the ASEAN region,"" he was quoted by Antara in a last minute meeting of the tourism delegation here.

He cited the standard competency for tourism human resources made as a result of a collaboration of the Association of Indonesian Hotel and Restaurants (PHRI), the Association of Indonesian Travel Agencies (Asita), and the Indonesian Institute for Tourism (IPI).

The ATF 2001 includes a tourism ministerial meeting, a meeting of the task force on ASEAN joint tourism marketing, and a travel exchange. It will end on Jan. 16. (tnt)
