Two vehicle thieves shot dead

JAKARTA: Two men, said to be specialist vehicle thieves, were shot dead by police officers from the Tamansari police subprecinct when they were caught trying to steal a motorcycle in Glodok on Thursday.
Police said that they could not yet identify the victims but the motorcycle belonged to Wiranata, 21, a resident of Jl. Cendrawasih in West Jakarta.
Police said the criminals, long suspected of vehicle theft, were followed and caught attempting to steal the motorcycle on Jl. Kemurnian III.
The criminals resisted when the police tried to arrest them. The pair ignored warning shots and were shot dead. --JP
