Poetry reading at Galeri Cemara 6

JAKARTA: French poets and their local counterparts will read their works on Wednesday night here at Galeri Cemara 6, Jl. HOS Cokroaminoto 9-11, Central Jakarta.

Organized by the Centre Culturel Franais in cooperation with the gallery, the event will feature contemporary poets Pascal Riou and Christian Doumet who will come directly from France. They will meet well-known Indonesian poets Sitor Situmorang, Sapardi Djoko Damono, Taufiq Ismail, Joko Pinurbo, Dorothea Rosa Herliany, Embun Kenyowati Ekosiwi, Eka Budianta and Toety Heraty Noerhadi.

Poetry will be read both in French and Bahasa Indonesia.

The annual event will be held to celebrate the Printemps des potes, or the month of poetry to mark the beginning of spring in France.

As part of the celebration, CCF will also have a poster exhibition on poet-painter Henri Michaux, who dedicated 60 years to the world of art.--JP
