Defending champs head to Final 4

JAKARTA: Reigning champions STIE Perbanas will open their defense of the college basketball championship against Padjadjaran University in the men's division and against Gadjah Mada University in the women's as the University Basketball League (Libama) will enter the semifinal stage in Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta, this weekend.

The two-day event will begin on Saturday with the STIE men going for their third straight title, while the STIE women's team go for their second consecutive championship.

Other matches on Saturday will pit STIE Swadaya against Gadjah Mada in the men's division and Surabaya University against STIE Indonesia in the women's.

The winners of those matches will play in the finals while the losers will square off in the 3rd-4th place games.

The teams secured their berths in the final four making it through the preliminary stages, played in two series in Yogyakarta and Bandung. --JP
