Girls escape trafficking syndicate

SEMARANG: Police personnel in Semarang are tracking down members of a trafficking syndicate who tried to force three rural girls into prostitution.

The three girls were picked up from separate places in Kendal and Wonosobo regencies and offered jobs in Semarang. But, when they arrived in the city, they were told to provide sexual services to customers.

Siti Aminah, 16, Satiyah, 14 and Wuryatun, 16, managed to escape and reported the matter to the police. -- JP
