3 cars stolen in 15 minutes

JAKARTA: In just a 15 minute span early on Sunday morning, a group of car thieves stole two cars belonging to Sofia, a resident of South Jakarta and another one belonging to her neighbor Syam Hilmud.
It was raining heavily at about 3 a.m. on Sunday when the men dismantled Sofia's front gate and broke into the house to take the car keys. Sofia, her husband Agus Sujianto and their children were terrified and just hid in the bedroom.
The men took Sofia's Honda CRV and Honda Jazz, with a combined value of around Rp 400 million.
A few minutes later, the gang broke into the house of Syam, just 50 meters away, and made off with his Peugeot sedan.
The thieves also got away with a watch worth Rp 8 million.
The residents said they had hired several people to guard the neighborhood. The security post is actually located right in front of Sofia's house. -- JP
