Two shot for drug a case

MEDAN, North Sumatra: Medan Police officers shot two Aceh residents on Thursday when they attempted to flee after a drug raid.

Zulfahmi, 25, suffered from a gunshot wound to the stomach and left calf, while Indra Atmajaya, 23, was shot in his left calf and left hand. The two are being treated at a hospital in Medan.

Chief of the Medan Police drug squad, Comr. Irwan Anwar, said that the police seized 10.8 kilograms of dry hashish. They offered Rp 1.3 million (US$130) per kilogram to a plainclothes police officer. When the policeman tried to capture them, they fled, prompting him to shoot at them. -- JP
