Singapore general gets award

JAKARTA: Singaporean Armed Forces chief Lt. Gen. Ng Yat Chung was granted the Yudha Dharma Utama medal from the Indonesian government for his efforts to boost ties between the two neighboring countries and their armed forces.

Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Widodo Adi Sucipto conferred the medal in a ceremony at his office on Friday.

Army chief Gen. Djoko Santoso, who represented Indonesian Military (TNI) chief Gen. Endiartono Sutarto, was among top military officers witnessing the medal presentation.

TNI spokesman Maj. Gen. Kohirin Suganda said the TNI admired Ng for his commitment and endeavors to build closer ties between the armed forces of the two countries. -- JP
