SUBIC BAY: Athletes competing in the shooting competition have taken aim at the organizers after being asked to pay a fee to compete.
They claimed they were asked to pay US$150 each, with an additional $100 requested from each team official, Antara news service reported.
Shooting team manager Hendra Djaya confirmed on Sunday that a notice was distributed twice to all the competing teams.
""If they contine to insist on the payment, then we have agreed to boycott the competition ..."" he said.
By Monday, however, Hendra said the athletes had decided that they would compete as long as there were no more notices sent their way. -- JP
