JAKARTA: In an apparent move to avoid being stamped as a sleazy publication for men, Male Emporium editorial staff and models visited Jakarta Police Headquarters on Tuesday to discuss the contents of the magazine.

Sporting T-shirts bearing the slogan ""No Pornography"", the group, accompanied by their lawyer Hinca Panjaitan, was met by city police chief Insp. Gen. Firman Gani.

Speaking after the meeting, the magazine's marketing and communications director, Cynthia Limanouw, said the editorial team had notified the police chief the magazine would again hit newsstands March 1 after briefly halting publication due to the police's crackdown on racy magazines and movies.

""We have reformatted our style,"" she said after the meeting. ""Pak Firman asked us to wait for the public's reaction to our new face. We are presenting a product that is free from pornography.""

Male Emporium was one many magazines and tabloids confiscated by police during recent raids on ""pornographic"" materials.

Cynthia said the magazine would take its product to the streets to assure the public that Male Emporium was not a pornographic publication.

One of the models, Lestya, denied her work for the magazine constituted pornography. ""We pose like normal models. If I have to wear a swimsuit, the shooting location will be at a swimming pool, not in front of the public."" --JP
