JAKARTA: The Australian government has appointed Lita Hudianto as a trade facilitator in Surabaya to enhance trade relations between the country and East Java province.

Australian Ambassador to Indonesia Bill Farmer said here on Thursday that the appointment of Lita would deliver more trade opportunities by actively helping the East Java business community connect with the right business partners in Australia.

Lita is a well-known businesswoman in Surabaya. Currently, she is the marketing director of PT Steel Pipe Industry of Indonesia (SPINDO). For her broad experience and skills in business and organization, she won the International Best Executive Award in 1996-1997.

Indonesia and Australia have a vibrant and growing trade and investment relationship. Total trade in goods and services reached A$8.4 billion last financial year, with Indonesia now Australia's 10th largest market for goods. -- JP
