Jakarta Free Spirit Zoo Run

The third race of the Jakarta Race series took place last Sunday at Ragunan Zoo. This was the fourth Annual Jakarta Free Spirit Zoo Run, in which over 400 participants took part in a 5k race or a 2.5k Fun Run.

Jakarta Free Spirit is a Running Club in Indonesia that actively participates in area races and puts on several runs a year.

Awards were given out to the top 3 men and women in the U15, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49 and over 50 categories. There were also awards given out for the top three teams in the Company, Student, Teacher and Open categories.

The winning Company team was Team USA, Krazy Komodos III was the winning Open Team, Santa's Little Runners was the winning Student Team and Four Nations was the winning Teacher Team.

Many parents ran along side their children in the fun run, where all participants received a medal at the end of the 2.5k route.

The proceeds from the four races in the Jakarta Race Series will be donated to charitable causes in Indonesia. Attending the Run on Sunday were several children currently undergoing chemotherapy treatment for cancer and their families. The money raised helps to pay for their chemotherapy treatments.

There is one race and fun run left in the Jakarta Race Series. The next run will be on May 21 at ISCI (International Sports Club Indonesia). We welcome companies to send a company team to compete in the team category. -- JP
