Following the current world fashion trend, the popular Malaysian shoe brand, VNC, launched here on Wednesday its new Spring/Summer 2006 collection at the Magenta Asian Cuisine restaurant in Kemang, South Jakarta.
Incorporating a broad range of textured fabrics, such as canvas, linen, lace and jute, the collection carries three themes: Boho Chic, Nautical Marine and Romantic Woman.
Colors dominated the collection, and the burnt sienna, turquoise and fuchsia Boho Chic line emphasized a retro 1960s look, featuring ethnic designs in romantic yet modern tones.
Meanwhile, the Nautical Marine line is inspired by a combination of sun and sea, presenting the classic sailing colors of red, white and blue.
The Romantic Woman, inspired by romantic gowns, explores femininity through high-heel, platform and wedge shoes featuring a combination of floral prints, lace and ribbon in muted colors of pinks, off-white, lilac, mint and blue.
Garbed all in black, dozens of Indonesia models, including top models Luna Maya and Karenina, presented the new VNC collection in a show that offered a complete apparel and accessory selection with a new jewelry collection by Bule & Lucy.
Women of the mid-upper to upper income bracket, including businesswomen, fashion designers and local artists, were among those guests attending the show.
During the launch, VNC also announced the appointment of Izabel ""Abel"" Jahja, a leading model in Indonesia, as its new icon.
Abel claimed to have worn VNC for daily, formal and professional events before the shoe line entered the Indonesian market last year.
""Its collection is always up-to-date with the world trend. It's also comfortable and affordable,"" Abel told reporters after the show.
At prices ranging from Rp 300,000 to Rp 800,000 a pair, many women might find VNC an affordable, headache-free and romantic means to update their wardrobe. -- A. Junaidi
