JAKARTA: Several veteran Indonesian shuttlers will try their luck at the US$120,000 Philippines Open in Manila beginning Wednesday. Among them are 2000 Olympics silver medalists Tri Kusharyanto and Minarti Timur in the mixed doubles.
Another old hand, Eng Hian, a men's doubles specialist, will partner the younger Rian Sukmawan, while Jeffer Rosobin will compete in the men's singles.
In total, the Badminton Association of Indonesia (PBSI) is sending 23 athletes to the event. The PBSI wants to give the younger players a test before the $250,000 Indonesian Open in Surabaya next week. -- JP
