JAKARTA: State-owned airline Garuda Indonesia will open a new route connecting Manado in North Sulawesi, Balikpapan in East Kalimantan and Jakarta beginning in June this year, Antara news agency reported Thursday.
""The Garuda office in Manado has been eyeing the Manado-Balikpapan-Jakarta route for quite a while, but Garuda head office management just gave the green light this year,"" Garuda Indonesia sales manager Hendra Sumarno said as reported by Antara on Thursday.
Garuda's Manado office was also awaiting head office permission for the establishment of a Manado-Gorontalo-Jakarta route and a Ternate-Manado-Jakarta route.
Gorontalo is the capital of Gorontalo province, located between North and Southeast Sulawesi, while Ternate is the capital of North Maluku. (08)
