Robot contests to be held at UI

JAKARTA: The National Education Ministry -- together with the University of Indonesia and the Polytechnic of Jakarta -- is busy preparing for the annual Indonesian Robotic Competition and the Indonesian Smart Robotic Competition.

Both events will take place July 3 to 5 at the UI's campus in Depok, south of Jakarta.

The winners will represent the country at the ABU ROBOCOON 2006 in Kuala Lumpur on Sept. 10.

""We believe these events will galvanize the technological knowledge of our students. This is also for the benefit of the public in the future,"" the ministry's director general of higher education, Satryo Soemantri Brodjonegoro, said.

""These competitions test not only technological knowledge and skills, but also the contestants' ability to communicate,"" he said. --JP
