DHL disappoints me

It amazes me when I see a company like DHL not taking care of its customers.

On Friday, June 2, I had two packages arrive in Batam at about 10 a.m. from the U.S. I was told that the packages would be cleared Monday, on June 5.

Now, every time I have shipments arriving on Fridays, I am always told that they will be cleared the following Monday. Is it because the Customs officials know it is Friday and they want to have a long weekend? To be honest, I would hope that this is not the case but it makes one wonder.

On Monday, I was told in the morning that they would be delivered that day but after calling at about 4 p.m., I was told that Customs had not released the packages but that they were already cleared. The reason I am told is that they are all in a meeting and that no one is there to clear any packages that arrived via DHL.

Am I the only person in Batam that finds this not to be normal? Are there any other customers of DHL that finds this to be normal?

All I can say is that since the country manager and the operations manager were replaced at the start of the year, shipments just do not seem to be delivered without all these so-called problems that are blamed on Customs. If these problems indeed are caused by Customs, then the government needs to do something about this.

If it is DHL staff passing the buck, then the new country manager or operations manager of DHL Indonesia needs to take steps. DHL was in my mind the best company, but the operative word here is (was).
