BANDUNG: At least 300 students from three universities in Bandung took part in a scholarship selection test sponsored by Singapore Airlines in cooperation with Inke Maris & Associates.
The selection test was held from June 14 to June 16 at the Hyatt Hotel on Jl. Sumatra.
SIA public affairs officer Supramaniam Sinnatannu said in addition to Bandung, the scholarships are offered in Jakarta, Surabaya, Yogyakarta, Solo and Manado.
""No restitution is needed ... this is purely a program for the Indonesian people,"" Sinnatannu said.
On the second test day on Thursday, the committee chose 110 students to move on to the next step: interviews.
SIA has allocated Rp 10 billion (US$1.05 million) to help students from low-income families continue on to higher educational levels in Indonesia.
It had granted scholarships to 351 students at eight universities and 2,500 students ranging from elementary school to high school age as of the beginning of this year.
