Busway accident kills one

JAKARTA: One man died and another was badly injured when a Transjakarta Busway bus hit their motorcycle as they crossed the busway lane at Harmoni intersection, Central Jakarta.
It was the fourth fatal accident involving a busway bus this year.
The victims have been identifies as Mu'inah, 24, an employee of a Gramedia bookstore and Sigit, who was riding the motorcycle.
An attendant at the police's traffic accident division, Adj. Comr. Riyadi, said the accident happened at 7:15 a.m., when the two were heading to Jl. Ir. H. Juanda from Jl. Majapahit.
Sigit reportedly misread a traffic light at the intersection and turned left, crossing the busway lane.
The police have questioned bus driver Laksmi Maulana Yuliana. -- JP
