Police destroy booze, drugs

JAKARTA: East Jakarta Police and the municipal administration bulldozed Thursday over 15,000 bottles of alcoholic drinks and burned drugs confiscated during police raids between January and May.

""We will keep up the raids to restrict the trafficking of these illegal goods,"" police chief Robinson Manurung was quoted as saying by website Tempointeraktif.

The drugs destroyed at the municipality office compound included 110 kilograms of marijuana, 207.40 grams of low-grade heroin, 15.07 grams of crystal methamphetamine and 89 ecstasy pills.

The police also paraded at the event two men arrested in May in Pulogadung district for allegedly possessing 25 kilograms of marijuana. -- JP
