The Jakarta Police questioned Thursday three policemen who allegedly assaulted members of the public.
Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Ketut Untung Yoga Ana said investigators from the security and profession division were yet to make any arrests over the accusations due to a lack of evidence.
""But they have to show up for questioning,"" he said.
Two policemen from Jati Asih station in Bekasi arrested a parking attendant last Friday in what is alleged to be a case of false arrest. The attendant says the officers forced him to confess to stealing a motorbike by pointing a gun at him, whipping him with a leather belt and burning him with a lit cigarette.
In a separate incident, a police officer assigned to Soekarno-Hatta International Airport is alleged to have assaulted an airport security guard after seeing the guard receive a Rp 2,000 tip from a motorist.
The guard alleges that the officer attacked him, saying ""I haven't received any change all day"". -- JP
