Ragunan Zoo to expand parking lot

JAKARTA: Due to an ongoing busway lane project that has taken up part of its parking lot, the Ragunan Zoo management plans to expand its parking area, a spokesman says.

""We will enlarge the parking lots at the West and South entrances to accommodate more visitors,"" Ragunan Zoo spokesman Mardzuki said as quoted by newsportal Tempointeraktif Tuesday.

The planned parking lot expansion is due to be finished by the end of the year.

Meanwhile, in anticipation of an increasing number of visitors during Idul Fitri, the management is setting up a temporary lot on an empty site inside the zoo.

Currently, the busway lane project occupies part of Ragunan's front parking area where 65 street vendors used to operate.

""Trans Jakarta have disbursed Rp 500,000 in compensation to each of the vendors,"" he said. --JP
