Bekasi businesses irked over outage

BEKASI: Businesspeople in Bekasi Selatan district protested a two-hour power outage Thursday caused by a short circuit at the power transformer in Kayuringin subdistrict, Tempointeraktif.com newsportal reported.

Traders in Sentra Niaga Kalimalang business district said the power went off at about 9:15 a.m. and returned at 11:50 a.m.

""The sudden power outage could damage computer components. I lost about Rp 300,000 because customers could not use the service,"" said Iqbal, the owner of an Internet kiosk.

Spokeswoman for the state electricity company PLN in Bekasi, Anie Sriwulan, declined to reveal the cause of the short circuit. -- JP
