The second annual Association of National Plus Schools (ANPS) Forum: Leadership in Practice was held in sunny Bali last month for educators in leadership positions.

The association said that the forum was aimed at bringing together a body of professional educators who seek to improve the quality of Indonesian education.

""The forum gives a platform for people to voice their aspirations for the country and individual school communities,"" said the Bali chapter ANPS' chairperson Seemun Suparno.

Seemun said that through inspirational presentations, subsequent reflective discussion groups and networking, group members were inspired and revitalized in their commitment to quality education. ""Participants were given educational tools and models to assist them in examining and implementing structures, methodologies and systems in their own institutions,"" she said.

She said that Dr. Hermana Soemantri of the Department of National Education (Depdiknas) attended the forum.

""He (Hermana) updated the participants on current national policies and direction, in order to articulate a shared vision of excellence in education for the nation and to further establish a close working relationship between the government and ANPS members,"" she said. --JP
