IBF to have sterner sanctions in 2007

JAKARTA: The administrator of the A Mild Indonesia Basketball League for the 2007 season said it would impose more stringent sanctions on participating clubs and players that repeated the same mistakes during the season.

""If necessary as a deterrent, we will double or triple the sanctions or fines imposed on clubs or players, who repeat the same mistakes during the season,"" league administrator head Nandang Roekanda said late Wednesday.

He added that each club would be required to submit complete data of their players along with the expiry of contract of the players as well as the players' rankings.

""Learning from past experience, we want to ascertain whether or not any transfer of players is valid. A transfer could only be conducted when the players' contracts expire,"" Nandang added. -- JP
