JAKARTA: The management of Taman Mini Indonesia Indah in East Jakarta will soon open its Chinese Cultural Park.

The project, carried out with the assistance of the Chinese-Indonesian community in Jakarta, began last year.

""The gateway will be ready on Nov. 12,"" park spokesman J. Purnawidjaja Alibasa said Sunday.

""Hopefully it will attract more visitors.""

Some of the workers and materials for the establishment of the cultural park were brought from China.

Chinese Indonesian Society (PMSTI) chairman Tedi Yusuf said they had to import Chinese carvings for the cultural site as they were difficult to find in the country.

""We expect it to be finished soon, but we are still relying on donations from members of the community."" -- JP
