JAKARTA: Police arrested 34 people in Tuesday morning raid in Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta.
In the raid, led by Tanah Abang Police chief Comr. Budiyanto, police arrested 30 known street criminals, three women without ID cards and a taxi driver parked on the street.
While the taxi driver was released soon afterwards, the other 33 were sent to the city's social rehabilitation center in Kedoya, West Jakarta, where they will be taught skills such as sewing and handicraft making, before being returned to their home villages. -- JP
