JAKARTA: The 2006 National Volleyball League (Livoli) will take place in Indramayu, West Java, from Dec. 10-17.
Indonesian Volleyball Association (PBVSI) head of development affairs Hanny Surkatty said holding the competition in a small town would attract more spectators.
""There has been a growing enthusiasm for volleyball. During the national club championships in Kendal, Central Java, earlier this year, the stadium was full. It was amazing to see such an atmosphere,"" he said.
Sponsored by Sampoerna Hijau cigarette brand, the Livoli will feature Bandung Tectona, Yuso Gunadarma of Yogyakarta, Mabes TNI of Jakarta and PLN of Jakarta in both the men's and women's divisions.
DPPK of Jakarta, Jasa Marga of Jakarta, Indomaret Sidoarjo of East Java, Bank Sumsel of South Sumatra and Mars of East Java will compete only in the men's division, while Popsivo of Jakarta, Petrogres Junior of East Java, Perkasa Blitar of East Java, Tovosa of Jakarta and JVC of Jakarta will compete in the women's division.
The winners will take home Rp 30 million (US$3,300). -- JP
