JAKARTA: Ahmad Anas Yahya and A.S. Hikam are suing the executive board and leaders of the National Awakening Party for dismissing them from the party.
Lawyer Humphrey R. Djemat, who is representing the two, said they had filed the suit with South Jakarta District Court.
""Muhaimin Iskandar (the party chairman) recalled them without any notification letters, as required by the party's statutes,"" Humphrey told reporters at the House of Representatives.
""He (Muhaimin) also accused them of having defamed the party, which they did not. Hence, the recall was unlawful,"" he added.
Muhaimin had earlier said the two, along with three other party executives, were dismissed for not complying with the results of the party's congress, which elected Muhaimin as chairman. -- JP/06
