President George W. Bush's State of the Union Address signaled that Americans want a change in the United States' foreign policy (The Jakarta Post, Jan. 25.)
If Bush wants action on North Korea and Myanmar, he should re-evaluate America's foreign policy toward Israel. How can the Bush administration claim to be waging a war on terror and thwarting the nuclear ambitions of opponents of freedom when the U.S supports Israel's actions in the Palestinian territories and blocks any attempt by the UN to thwart them? How can it do so while itself violating the code of human ethics in Guantanamo?
I think all American presidents have double standard on their foreign policies, except President Woodrow Wilson who won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1919.
