Regarding Polygamy a male's basic instinct by Mangku Sitepoe, finally someone has injected some biological science into the polygamy argument.
The fact that Sitepoe left out the ""mental baggage"", including religious justifications, outdated historical references, poverty and culturally irrelevant diatribes, should be lauded.
Indonesian polygamists exhibit immature and uneducated behavior and have never bothered to take a biology course, or probably got a warped version of the subject. There are huge advances in human biochemistry that explain how humans fight, make war, become fat, make love, have orgasms and evolve. Studies on bonobos and chimpanzees show how similar the sexual behavior of humans is to our closest non-human cousins.
How sad it is that people here have nothing to do but take extra wives. Polygamy is more of a statement on the lack of education, sports programs and viable extracurricular activities for adults and youths.
I wonder how the youth of this country can control their testosterone/estrogen surges with only the sedentary nature of religion to look forward to. Perhaps racing motorcycles at night and hanging out at the mall will do.

Polygamy is little more than a licence to screw around, or have 'free sex' as Indonesians like to call it. The main difference is, it has been sanctioned by religion and has only been made available to men.
