JAKARTA: Japan will extend its aid contribution to Aceh by approximately US$246,000 through Japanese non-governmental organizations, the Japanese embassy in Jakarta said recently.

""Projects will be implemented with the purpose of promoting better mental and physical health amongst children in both tsunami-affected and conflict-affected areas,"" the embassy said in a statement.

The projects will include providing trauma counseling for children living in barracks in Banda Aceh and Aceh Besar as a result of the tsunami and helping children in Aceh Selatan overcome trauma caused by long-term conflict, the statement said. --JP
