Awards for software programmers

JAKARTA: The Research and Technology Ministry and PT Telkom will present awards to programmers capable of developing 'open source' software to commemorate the 12th National Technology Day.

The awards will only be presented to individuals or organizations whose products could be proven to be useful, original and unique.

The last date to submit products to be judged is June 25.

Open Source software has enabled people to make their own application software, such as writing programs or operating systems, from copyright-free tools available on the Internet.

Those interested can visit the research ministry's website at www.ristek.go.id or Telkom's website at www.telkom.co.id.

The awards will be presented on Aug. 10. -- JP
