Govt awards AMM members

JAKARTA: The government has bestowed the prestigious Bintang Jasa Utama upon Malaysian Maj. Gen. (ret) Datok Mohammad Rozi Baharom, a former member of the Aceh Monitoring Mission (AMM).

The award was conferred on him by Indonesian Military chief Air Chief Marshall Djoko Suyanto over the weekend during his visit to Malaysia, military headquarters said in a statement Monday.

Rozi is a former deputy commander of the AMM, which was comprised of representatives from the European Union and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations.

The AMM's term end Dec. 15. It has been hailed as a model for conflict management and resolution. -- JP
