Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) has become an academic member of the American Gear Manufacturers Association (AGMA), making it possible to introduce the AGMA standard to its students.

Established in 1916, AGMA unites gear manufacturers across the globe.

I Wayan Suweca, head of ITB machinery school, said the institute's membership in AGMA would allow students to learn about gears based on AGMA's standards and how to produce them.

Suweca said that an early introduction to the AGMA standard, which has been adopted globally, will be beneficial for ITB students.

According to the campus website www.itb.ac.id, ITB membership started March 26.
