UGM runs furniture design contest

The School of Architecture at Gadjah Mada University (UGM) is staging a furniture design competition.

Organized in cooperation with the forestry ministry and eWorld, the competition is open to individuals or teams of three people.

There are two categories in the competition: Garden and Indoor Furniture. Scoring will be based on modernity, creativity and innovation of the participants.

Participants should register and submit their entries by June 30. Assessment of the work will be carried out July 2 at the School of Architecture building.

Winners in each category will be announced July 7. The winners will get cash prizes. The first prize will be Rp 10 million, the second Rp 5 million, the third Rp 2 million.

The competition is designed to provide added value in forest products. It is hoped that Indonesia will eventually export furniture instead of logs.
