Udayana held admission exam

DENPASAR: As many as 2,810 high school graduates took the university admission test known as the SPMB, at Udayana University's campus on Jimbaran Hill on Wednesday and Thursday.
Rector I Made Bakta said that for the 2007-2008 academic year, the university will only receive 1,850 students netted through the SPMB and 1,845 through an academic achievement program called the PMDK.
The university has a medical school, as well as faculties for economics and management, agriculture and husbandry, letters, law and architecture.
The rector said the number of students entering this year's exams at the university increased by 6.7 percent from 2,760 to 2,810 students. The SPMB was held by state universities across Indonesia on July 4 and July 5, 2007.
In addition to local students, the university also receives students from foreign countries such as Malaysia, India and Germany.
Every year, around 50 students from Malaysia come to Bali to pursue their higher education at the university. Students from Germany take part in a special student exchange program. Around 30 to 50 students from Germany attended classes at the university's faculties last year. -- JP
