Rp 176m lost in daylight robbery

Several armed men robbed a kerosene distributor Tuesday at about 1 p.m. after the female owner collected Rp 175.9 million cash from agents in Lenteng Agung, South Jakarta.

Mariati Kaharudin, 55, her employee Acep Ramli and her driver Mimin Rusli had just arrived in front of her two-story house on Jl. Ungaran Ujung, Menteng Atas, when the robbery took place.

Detik.com reported that as Acep was going to move a backpack where Mariati kept her collected money, two men pointed their gun at him.

Three motorcycles, with two people on each of them, had been tailing their car from the Pasar Cimanggis intersection in South Jakarta.

Mariati immediately reported the robbery to Setiabudi's subprecinct police in South Jakarta.

Burglars also broke into a house in Pasar Minggu, South Jakarta, stealing two laptops and several documents, a resident reported to the city's police headquarters Tuesday.

The victim, Harsihani, lives in the Pasar Minggu house owned by her brother Djoko Hardono who is currently overseas.

Harsihani said the criminals took a car key belonging to her father-in-law, Yusuf Sulleupathree vehicle registration cards belonging to Yusuf along with a number of other items.

Harsihani said she reported the break-in to the Pasar Minggu subprecinct police after the incident occurred Saturday. She said she came to the city police, asking them to freeze the vehicle documents.

Harsihani, 46, said her family and her housemaid were at her own house in Serpong, Banten, when the burglary took place.

She said they returned to the house in Pasar Minggu at 4:30 p.m. to find the living room door and her bedroom door forcefully opened, but the main gate was still locked properly.

Harsihani said according to her neighbors, a man driving a black Chevrolet Blazer was seen knocking at Harsihani's gate at approximately midday.

When a neighbor asked the man what he was doing, he said he was looking for Harsihani and introduced himself as her relative from Kebon Jeruk, West Jakarta.

The neighbor told him that Harsihani and her family had gone to Serpong.

About an hour later, a black Toyota Avanza car was seen stopping in front of her house.

Harsihani said a week before the incident, burglars took a Kijang car and two laptops from an empty house nearby in Jati Padang, Pasar Minggu. (07)
