SEMARANG, Central Java: Kudus Regent M. Tamzil has been promoting this Central Java regency through various programs and slogans to draw more visitors and investors to the area.
Following the Kudus Pro Investment program, which ran annually over the last four years, Tamzil is set to launch a new tagline in September, ""Kudus: A Taste of Java"", as the regental town's new tourism brand.
Speaking at a seminar themed Tracing the course of Indonesian advertising at Diponegoro University in Semarang, Tamzil claimed that the pro-investment program in Kudus had attracted investors to the regency.
""Kudus still has other appeals,"" he said.
""Apart from its fame in its clove cigarette history and as the birthplace of one of the first propagators of Islam (in Java), Kudus is also a rich source of culinary tourism with its soto (chicken soup), jenang (sticky-rice taffy), buffalo sate (grilled meat on skewers) and other dishes,"" he said.
