JAKARTA: The National Police, in cooperation with police in Malaysia, have arrested three people suspected of involvement in illegally sending migrant workers to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Head of strategic analysis and investigation of transnational crimes, Brig. Gen. Mathius Salempang, said Thursday the three suspects, along with their 45 victims, were being transferred to Jakarta.

He said one suspect was still on the run.

The three suspects allegedly promised their victims internships in Malaysia, but first required them to pay Rp 5 million (US$550) each.

Malaysian immigration officers uncovered the case when they detained the victims for immigration violations last month. --JP
