High-rise living offers more than a home

A- A A+

Kurniawan Hari, The Jakarta Post, Jakarta

In a crowded city like Jakarta where traffic jams are omnipresent, many people share a common dream: How to avoid the misery of being trapped in congestion.

Traffic jams are hated by the public. However, jams have been the spur for some businesspeople to come up with the idea of developing flats or apartments.

Eventually, this provides a solution to people's traffic problems because they can live at apartments close to their workplace.

With increasing competition in this sector, developers have to come up with new designs and concepts, and, if possible, equip them with the most sophisticated facilities to attract customers. Otherwise, they will not even have a glimpse.

The design and concept could be an apartment right at the city center with a golf course view like Senayan City Residence or possibly one with a stylish structure and an almost 180-degree view of the Java Sea like Regatta in North Jakarta.

Both claim to be in the vicinity of the central business district, though.

""The golf course view makes residents feel as if they have a spacious park down there,"" said Halina, Senayan City Residence marketing and leasing manager.

Senayan City Residence offers some facilities including tennis court, a 24-hour security system, private lift to each unit and a breathtaking,infinity-edge swimming pool.

Residents will also have direct access to Senayan City shopping mall either through the apartment lobby at ground floor or the swimming pool area at the 12th floor.

It has been built on a plot of land that belongs to the state, making it impossible for customers to own the apartment unit. Thus, all 67 units are for rent only.

The apartments, says Halina, offers units in three sizes that range from 207 to 243 square meters. ""Rents are from US$3,000 to $5,000 per month,"" she said.

Unlike Senayan City Residence, which offers its units for rent only, Regatta which will in total have 10 towers whose units are available for purchase.

Currently, Regatta is working on the construction of four apartment towers.

Regatta, which will see the topping off of four towers in September, claims to be the first waterfront residential apartment in Indonesia.

""We have developed our project based on a nautical concept in which an iconic hotel will serve as the lighthouse and the 10 apartment towers will be the tallships around it,"" said general manager Chandra M. Makmoen.

Based on the masterplan, the project, built on a 11-hectare reclaimed site at Pantai Mutiara, North Jakarta, will be equipped with an aqua park whose facilities include a 45-meter-long wave pool, 500-meter lazy river, speed slide and gravity slide.

Each unit is being sold for around Rp 3 billion. So far, about 65 percent have been snapped up.

An amusement center will easily be accessible for Regatta residents because it is only a step away. In the meantime, people who live at Senayan City Residence can easily browse the shopping mall because the new lifestyle hub in the backyard.

The additional facilities provided by such apartments make the lives of residents a lot more pleasant.
