Pertaining to the ""People"" feature article, which was published in The Jakarta Post on Aug. 2, p. 24 titled ""Erna Sulistyaningsih: Disabled but not down and out"", herewith we would like to kindly request the correction of the quotes in relation to our organization.
The formal name of our organization is the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), the official Japanese institution dealing with the bilateral technical cooperation under the Japanese government's Official Development Assistance (ODA) in various countries, including Indonesia.
JICA is not a non-governmental organization, as stated in the above-mentioned article.
The empowerment of the paralyzed earthquake victims, including Erna, was a part of JICA's assistance program for the rehabilitation and reconstruction of Yogya and Central Java through the work of our Junior Experts in Bantul, which was concluded in late July 2007.
