JAKARTA: Head of the violent crimes division at the Jakarta Police Adj. Sr. Comr. Fadil Imran stated in a release Sunday that two suspects in taxi robberies had been arrested Friday.

Police suspect the two men, Marjoni alias Jhoni bin Safrudin, 32, and Azwirmen alias Damen, 40, are accomplices of Hery Takur alias Takur, the driver of the blue taxi they used in their crimes.

Police caught Jhoni and Damen at Menteng Hotel, Central Jakarta.

Takur and another of his accomplices, Ricky, are still on the run.

The police said Takur had let his three accomplices into his taxi when he had passengers.

They would then threaten the passenger with screwdrivers, demanding they hand over their cell phone, ATM cards and any jewelry.

The four men are implicated in several cases between March and August, including the robbery of 51-year-old Junie S. Wiyogo last week, police said. -- JP
