JAKARTA: A group of former Sogo department store employees reported the management to the police Thursday for allegedly not paying their salaries and severance payments.

The group's spokesperson, Ani Wuryaningsih, said PT Panen Lestari Internusa, which owns Sogo, had promised to pay the salaries, but failed to keep its promise.

Ani said workers were dismissed in March after the company closed its department store in Plaza Indonesia, Central Jakarta.

She added the employees then filed a lawsuit with the Industrial Relations Court in May and won the case in July.

""The court ruled the company had to pay our salaries and hire us back, but it hasn't.

""We demand the company pay us our salaries, which in total amount to over Rp 430 million (US$45,745),"" Ani said. --JP
