Assailant shoots diner at fast-food resto

JAKARTA: Dyn John Lumenta was shot twice in the left leg as he tried to fight off unknown assailants who tried to snatch his car keys in the parking lot of a fast-food restaurant Sunday.

Witness Natalia Budiyanti, 24, said as quoted by Kompas online that first Dyn was seen leaving the McDonald's restaurant on Jl. Kedoya in West Jakarta at around 2:30 a.m.

Dyn, 24, went straight to his black Honda Jazz car parked in front of the restaurant. Natalia said as he was about to open the car door, two men suddenly approached him.

""One of them tried to snatch the car keys. Dyn fought back. The other man, who was waiting on a motorcycle, suddenly pulled out a gun and shot Dyn twice in the left leg,"" Natalia said.

The two men fled the scene on their motorcycle when bystanders tried to help Dyn. Police arrived later to take the victim to the Siloam Hospital. --JP
