On behalf of President Susilo Bambang Yudhyono, Indonesian Ambassador Wardana presented the Bintang Jasa Utama (First-Class Order of Service Award) to former Singaporean ambassador to Indonesia Edward Lee Kwong Foo in Singapore on Tuesday.

Indonesia honored Lee for his outstanding service in enhancing and strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries, especially in the economic sector, as well as for his humanitarian work, the Indonesian Embassy in Singapore said in a statement.

Lee served as Singapore's ambassador to Jakarta from 1994 to 2006.

The Bintang Jasa Utama is Indonesia's highest service award, and is bestowed upon Indonesian citizens and foreign nationals who have rendered great service to the people of Indonesia.

Singapore's Foreign Ministry welcomed the award, saying it reaffirmed the commitment of both countries to enhancing already expansive bilateral ties. -- JP
