JAKARTA: The junior attorney general for special crimes said Thursday that corruption convict Nurdin Halid turned himself in, showing up voluntarily at Salemba Penitentiary on Tuesday.
Kemas Yahya Rahman previously said his office arrested Nurdin after he failed to appear at the South Jakarta Prosecutor's Office on Monday in response to a summons.
Nurdin's lawyer disputed this claim, saying his client had turned himself in.
""We started looking for him Sunday since we had lost track of him,"" Kemas told detik.com on Thursday.
He then said Nurdin made contact with the head of the South Jakarta Prosecutor's Office, Hidayatullah, and agreed to meet him at Salemba Penitentiary on Tuesday.-- JP
