BOGOR: Police have arrested a man for allegedly selling government-subsidized medicines in Bojong Meros market in Cianjur district, Bogor.

The head of the Bogor Police's crime unit, Sr. Comr. Verdy H. Kalele, said Monday police confiscated 60 different types of medicine that were being sold without the proper licenses.

Acting on a tip from the public, police on Saturday raided a shop owned by Budiandi Uung Rohendi and arrested the owner.

During questioning, the suspect reportedly said the medicine was purchased from community health center staff in Mande and Cikalong subdistricts, as well as from a retired official at the Cianjur district health office.

""The medicines are not for sale ... they are all subsidized,"" officer Verdy said, adding that police were investigating other possible suspects in the case. -- JP
