JAKARTA: The Indonesian Military (TNI) headquarters says it does not mind if the Attorney General's Office questions former Army chief of staff Gen. (ret) R. Hartono and former assistant for planning to Army chief Lt. Gen. (ret) T.B. Silalahi over pension fund corruption allegations.
""The TNI cannot take any action because (R. Hartono and T.B. Silalahi) are no longer active military personnel,"" TNI commander Air Chief Marshal Djoko Suyanto said as quoted by detik.com news portal Tuesday.
There has been increasing pressure for the TNI to further investigate Hartono and Silalahi due to an alleged payoff in the form of houses from businessman Henry Leo. Henry has been named a graft suspect in military pension fund PT Asabri amounting to Rp 410 billion.
""The Attorney General's Office has been handling the case and their (R. Hartono and T.B. Silalahi) alleged involvement is no longer within the jurisdiction of the military tribunal to prosecute,"" he said.
The TNI chief said the case involving the alleged misappropriation of pension funds should be settled soon.--JP
