JAKARTA: Garuda Indonesia airline will add 13,604 more seats this month to meet the surge in demand ahead of and after the Idul Fitri holiday.
""We are adding 13,604 seats. If those are added to the previous 28,839 seats, we will have a total of 42,443 additional seats available for Idul Fitri,"" head of corporate communications Pujobroto said Thursday in a press statement.
The seat capacity will be increased during the period between Oct. 9 and 21, by operating bigger planes or increasing flight frequency.
He said the additional seats would be given to 11 flight routes, comprising eight domestic and three international routes.
The domestic routes are Jakarta-Batam with 220 seats, Jakarta-Yogyakarta (1,024), Jakarta-Medan (930), Jakarta-Padang (460), Jakarta-Surakarta (1,636), Jakarta-Semarang (268), Jakarta-Denpasar (5,178), and Jakarta-Surabaya (586).
The international routes are Jakarta-Kuala Lumpur with 268 seats, Jakarta-Singapore (2,760) and Jakarta-Denpasar-Perth (274). (JP/14)
